Scholarships

Earnings from the Scholarship Fund, which grew from the net proceeds of the Travel and Adventure Film Series (no longer a Club project) plus net proceeds from the annual International Dinner and Auction, provide first and second year scholarships to Iowa Central Community College for worthy students from Fort Dodge Senior High School and St. Edmond High School. In addition, an Outstanding Student Award is given annually to a female and male student from each of the two high schools. The Award carries with it a $1,000 scholarship which may be used at a postsecondary institution of choice. This scholarship is based on academic achievement plus involvement in activities, etc.

Park Project

The Club has adopted the Crawford-Snell Park. Each quarter, $10.40 is transferred to the Park Fund from each member’s quarterly dues. The members of the Park Committee plus other Club members have made many improvements in the park over the past few years. The Club’s Centennial Project is to extend the entrance road into the middle of the park with a landscaped turn around.

Butler After-School Program

The Club is committed to take the lead in working with the other Fort Dodge service clubs to raise the necessary local match of $37,500 for the 2006-2007 school year and $75,000 for the 2007-2008 school year. An Inter Club Service Committee has been established to coordinate this project.

Karl L. King Memorial Statue

The Club is raising the necessary funds to erect a life-size bronze statue of Karl L. King in uniform with baton in hand, along with a bronze marker commemorating the statue. The statue will be placed on a granite base next to the band shell in Oleson Park. Karl was a member of the Fort Dodge Noon Rotary Club for a number of years until his death in 1971.

Productivity Enhancement Program

For three weeks this fall, the Club will host a second auto and service delegation from Russia as a part of the Productivity Enhancement Program. This program, which is sponsored by the United States Department of State, is dedicated to bringing economic Reform in Russia through delegations of Russian business entrepreneurs and professionals.
